McDonald’s is New Zealand’s most recognised family restaurant brand, and has built its business through its ability to adapt to the changing needs of its customers. McDonald’s has been part of the New Zealand community since 1976 when it opened its first restaurant in Porirua. The company now has 164 restaurants nationwide, employing more than 7500 staff. The company is also a key supporter of Ronald McDonald House Charities New Zealand. McDonald’s pays the charity’s administrative costs so that every dollar donated by the public goes directly to helping New Zealand children and families through the many programmes undertaken each year. McDonald’s focus for the new millennium has been on the type of food offered. The company has evolved its menu to offer a wider range of choices, and to provide more information around those choices. McDonald’s has also made significant changes to its menu, the ingredients it uses, and to the way it prepares its food.
