The Taranaki Daily News Sportsperson of the Year nominees for 2017 are of an extremely high calibre. Join us on Friday 24 November at The Devon Hotel in New Plymouth to celebrate their outstanding commitment, achievements and excellence in sport.

This year we are proud to have Taranaki's own Lisa Tamati as our bartercard guest speaker.  Lisa's career spans over 23 years of competing in some of the world's toughest and most brutal endurance events and expeditions, including; over 2000km in the Sahara, and running across New Zealand (2250km) in just 42 days. She ran the Badwater Ultramarathon (217km) through Death Valley twice. It is known as the unofficial 'World Champs of Ultrarunning' and is the hottest desert on Earth.

Running has become an important part of her life, her philosophy, her way to inspire and help others and it's her passion.  Lisa is an inspirational speaker who shares powerful messages about overcoming adversity, never giving up and facing your fears. Her stories show how these traits apply to everyday life and work, not just endurance athletes.

Awards Evening tickets are $50 per person and includes a three course meal.  Tickets can be purchased from the Sport Taranaki office. For tickets and/or more information please contact: Marina or Sharyn via email or ph:06-759 0930.
